Finally after getting a laptop that actually works I made my first attempts at learning how to create in Unreal Engine 4. Before getting started I watched a few YouTube videos and went through some of Unreal Engines tutorials to get an understanding of how the program works. I didn’t understand a lot of the tutorials but i was still willing to try and make something.
My first few tries at making in Unreal Engine weren’t very successful. I started with the ‘starter content’ on a blank template so i could play around with the controls and get used to how things work in the program. When trying to manoeuvre around the space was difficult i couldn’t get a hang of the zoom and movement controls. So i ended up facing random directions and zoomed far away from where i was trying to work.
After playing around with the program i thought i was getting a hang of it, but with one press of a button i managed to delete the sun. So everything was in darkness and i wasn’t sure how to get it back… after about 1 hour of searching the program and looking for the answer online i managed to get the light back.
From my first attempts i discovered that understanding the tutorials is the first challenge and creating in a virtual space is a lot easier if theres a light.
